MS17 Advance experimental characterization of porous materials

Poromechanics scope is constantly extending towards more complex materials and phenomena. Studied materials notably include natural geomaterials, biomaterials and manmade materials of increasing complexity, while the studied phenomena involve coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical and chemical processes.
In parallel to the development of dedicated fundamental approaches, experimental poromechanics has become a full research field calling for innovative contributions. Standard geomechanical experimental devices have been adapted and testing procedures have evolved to encompass new materials and test conditions. Additional means of characterization such as Digital Image Analysis, micro and nanoindentation, have been integrated in global experimental approaches.
The objective of this mini-symposium is to bring together researchers to exchange on the advances in experimental poromechanics regarding both original approaches in terms of experimental devices or methodologies, and global experimental workflows integrating different means and scales of characterization.
